BC Program - Honour the Work

Providing books, equipment and lesson plans which introduce the skilled trades to elementary students.
As British Columbia continues to face an ongoing skilled trades shortage, our industry has an urgent need to act. By inspiring students in elementary classrooms today, we can build the next generation of tradespeople who will sustain and grow our communities of tomorrow.
By enlightening students to the exciting possibilities within the construction industry, we are not only supporting their educational journey but also contributing to the growth and sustainability of our industry.
About Honour the Work STEAMS Kits
This innovative program aims to enhance Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education through hands-on activity kits and books designed to inspire elementary school students.
The Honour the Work initiative is dedicated to fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among young learners. The comprehensive kits provided include detailed guides for educators, complete with lesson plans, instructional videos, and various resources, all aligned with the British Columbia curriculum standards.
Honour the Work is a charitable organization dedicated to reshaping perceptions and increasing awareness of skilled trades careers among elementary students, teachers, and parents.
STEAMS Kits introduce kindergarten to grade 5 students to skilled trades, which:
- are turnkey. Teacher lesson plans, student handouts, and electronic links to resources are provided.
- are hands on. A class set of building materials are included.
- include diverse children's books.
